4.1.1 POJA-L4115+4116+4117+4119+4118
Title: Sphincter of the anal canal (pig)
Description: Stain: Antibody immunoperoxidase staining with diaminobenzidin reaction (DAB) and hematoxylin counterstaining.
(A, B) anti-α-SR-actin antibodies. (C) anti-α-SM actin. (D, E) anti-desmin antibodies.
α-SR-actin is found in all types of muscles, i.e. both striated and smooth muscles, while α-SM actin is exclusively present in smooth muscles. Desmin is also characteristic for the plaques in smooth muscles. The distribution pattern of these filaments illustrates that the inner sphincter consists of smooth muscles, while the external sphincter is a striated type.
Keywords/Mesh: anal canal, colon, rectum, actin, desmin, smooth muscles, striated muscles, sphincter, histology, POJA collection
