6.1 POJA-L2691+La0184+La0188+La0192
Title: Acrosome formation in spermatids
Description:
(A-D) Electron microscopy, gerbil.
(1): The elaborate Golgi area at one pole of the spermatid nucleus. The plate of adherence (arrows) is part of nuclear envelope
and the acrosomal vesicle (future tip of the mature spermatozoon nucleus).
(A): Golgi phase (stage I).
(B): Golgi phase (late stage I).
(C): Late Golgi phase (stage II).
(D): Cap phase (stage III).
(D, 2): Cytoplasm of Sertoli cell.
The acrosome is formed by the Golgi apparatus and contains lytic enzymes needed for
the penetration through the zona pellucida of the oocyte, such as hyaluronidase, neuramidase, acid phosphatase and proteases.
Keywords/Mesh: testis, spermiogenesis, spermatid, acrosome, histology, electron microscopy, POJA collection
