Title: Keratin and vimentin expression in skin
Description:
Skin of external ear, human, immunoperoxidase staining with DAB and monoclonal antibodies against cytokeratin 5 and 8 (RCK 102)
in (A), and against vimentin in (B) on semi-serial sections of the skin of the external ear.
These cytokeratins are visualized mainly in the stratum germinativum (2), but not in the dermis (1), nor in the stratum granulosum
and the layers above. (4) Hair.
The vimentin (B) is mainly found in the (mesenchyme-derived) connective tissue cells in the dermis, but also in some individual cells (Langerhans cells) migrating through the epidermis. Vimentin is absent in the epithelial cells of the epidermis.
Keywords/Mesh: skin, ear, keratin, RCK 102, cytokeratin 5+8, vimentin, histology, POJA collection
