4.1.1 POJA-L-4011+4010
Title: Crypt and Brunner glands in duodenum (gerbil)
Description: Electron micrograph.
(A): Transverse section through a tubule of a Brunner gland.
The lumen (1) is surrounded by epithelial cells that contain large secretory granules with bicarbonate and mucus. Note that the cells display also short microvilli at their free surface.
(B): Transverse section through a villus. Between the two blue bars the connective tissue papilla of the villus contains capillaries with several plasma cells and other lymphoid cell types.
(B, 2): Villus epithelial cell (without secretion granules).
(B, 3): Goblet cell with mucus granules.
Keywords/Mesh: duodenum, Brunner glands, Lieberkühn crypts, electron microscopy, POJA collection
