6.1 POJA-L4233+3828
Title: Rete testes
Description:
(A) Stain hematoxylin-eosin, human. (B) Anti-keratin 7-antibody (OVTL12-30)
immunoperoxidase staining with DAB, human.
(A): The seminiferous tubules (1), the place of spermatogenesis /spermiogenesis, continue into the rete testis (2, 3) a labyrinthine
network of tubules supported by connective tissue septa (red). The tubules are lined by a single-layered cuboidal epithelium,
locally provided with cilia. This epithelium is active in secretion and resorption of the rete fluid.
(B): The rete testis epithelium in (B) appears strongly positive in the cytokeratin 7 staining. Remember that the seminiferous tubules
are negative for cytokeratin 7 staining (see POJA-L-2721 in composite photograph).
The rete testis continues in a number of 10-20 efferent ductules.
Keywords/Mesh: testis, rete testis, cytokeratin 7, histology, POJA collection
