4.2.1 POJA-L3715+3714+3710+La0271
Title: Bile canaliculi of liver cells (human, rat)
Description: Stain: (A survey, B, detail) gold impregnation (human). (C, D) Electron micrograph of adjacent liver cells forming a bile canaliculus (rat).
The hepatocytes produce bile which is secreted through intercellular canals that can be visualized by gold impregnation as dark stained network (A, B).
(In C, D) the intercellular canals (3) appear to be studded by microvilli-like amplifications. The canals are firstly sealed off with tight junctions and secondly by adherens junctions.
(4). Close to them small lysosomal structures (peribiliary dense bodies).
(5) Golgi cisterns with electron-grey VLDL granules (very low density lipoprotein).
(1) Central vein.
(2) Sinusoid spaces.
Keywords/Mesh: liver cells, Golgi area, bile canaliculi, electron microscopy, histology, POJA collection
