4.1.1 POJA-L4067+407
Title: Ileum (human)
Description: Stain: Hematoxylin-eosin.
The ileum shows villi (1) and crypts (2) which are, however, less numerous than in the jejunum.
(3): Lamina muscularis mucosae.
(4): Tela submucosa.
(5): Part of the tunica muscularis mucosae. All the white, lucent cells spread over the villus are goblet cells producing mucus.
In the crypts (B) several cell types are observed.
(6): Goblet cell with a lucent, transparent area as the virtual storage of the dissolved secretory granules.
(7): Paneth cells with granules situated supranuclearly.
(8): Enteroendocrine cell with eosinophilic granules located subnuclearly.
(9): Infiltrating lymphocyte.
Keywords/Mesh: ileum, Paneth cell, goblet cell, villus, crypt, histology, POJA collection
