(A): Spermatids are all “hidden” with their heads within the Sertoli cells, leaving their reddish tails upwards into the lumen of the seminiferous tubules.
(B): SDH, pig, succinic dehydrogenase Leydig cells strong compared with the other cells illustrating the high mitochondrial activity of the Leydig cells. Nuclei are unstained.
(C): AMPase, pig, or 5’-nucleotidase the maturing spermatids are stained selectively positive. Note that the spermatogonia are negative. (D): AcPh, pig, or acid phosphatase in lysosomes of Sertoli cells and interstitial Leydig cells are stained intensively, illustrating the lysosomal activity.
