12.1.3 POJA-L2539+2588+2544+2547
Title: Collagen IV localisation in the anterior/posterior chamber of the postnatal eye
Description:
(A, B, C): Immunoperoxidase staining with DAB and anti-collagen IV antibodies marks the present of mostly basement
membranes, 1d postnatal rat.
(1) The lens is coated with a collagen IV-positive capsule (blue arrows), produced by the underlying epithelium layer.
The free-floating positive fibrous structures are detached zonular fibres.
(2) The upper side of the iris towards the anterior chamber is closely layered with fibroblasts and collagen IV-positive fibres.
The posterior side of the iris consists of two epithelial cell types in close association.
(3) Ciliary body.
(4) Note that the cornea is also sealed off with collagen IV at the endothelial site, i.e. the Descemet’s membrane (C, 7).
At the top the positive staining of the Bowman’s layer (C, 8), apposed to the eyelid lined with the epithelium of the future
palpebral conjunctiva.
(5) Retina with blue-stained nuclei resting on the basement membrane of the retinal pigment epithelium.
(6) Iridocorneal angle.
Keywords/Mesh: eye, cornea, iris, lens, basement membrane, collagen IV, histology, POJA collection
