14.1 POJA-L6229 Transverse tubules (TRIAD) in striated muscle
14.1 POJA-L6229 Transverse tubules (TRIAD) in striated muscle
Title: Transverse tubules (TRIAD) in striated muscle
Description:
Cross sectioned T-tubules (arrows) as part of the triad system in skeletal muscle (human). The T-tubules are deep invaginations of the sarcolemma into the muscle fibres at the level of the A-I band junctions in human. Calcium ions released from the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SER) is initiated by depolarisation of the T-tubule membranes.
(Z): Z-lines. Note that all sarcomeres are well aligned in register and the A-, I-, H and M-bands are clearly demonstrated.
