Title: Variable diameter of muscle fibres due to myogenic or neurogenic disorder (human)
Description:
(A): Haematoxylin-eosin stain. Due to myogenic disorder the size and diameter of muscle fibres vary considerably, atrophic fibres (*) e.g. in muscular dystrophy.
(B): Haematoxylin-eosin stain. Similarly, due to neurogenic disorder bundles of muscle fibres can atrophy (*), the so-called large group atrophy in e.g., spinal muscular atrophy. Note also a group hypertrophic muscle fibres (large) surrounded by atrophic fibres, small (*).
Keywords/Mesh: locomotor system, skeletal muscle, striated muscle, neuromuscular disease, myopathy, atrophy, hypertrophy, pathology, POJA collection
