Title: Immunofluorescence staining for basement membranes/mesangium V in the human kidney
Description:
(A): Immunofluorescence staining (in black-white) with antibodies against laminin.
(B): Ditto, with antibodies against vimentin, localized in non-epithelial cells (mesenchyme-derived).
(C): Ditto, with antibodies (HS4C3) against heparan sulfate.
(D, E): Ditto, with antibodies against collagen IV and VI respectively.
Laminin, collagen IV and VI and HSPG are all parts of the basement membrane (basal lamina) and extracellular matrix.
The fluorescent pattern of these antibodies has an identical pattern.
Vimentin staining is present in about all non-epithelial cell types e.g. interstitial cells and in the sparse connective tissue
around the tubuli.
In renal fibrotic lesions collagen type VI is increased considerable. Collagen VI is associated with collagen I.
Keywords/Mesh: urinary system, kidney, interstitium, laminin, vimentin, heparan sulfate, collagen IV, collagen VI, mesangium, basement membrane, histology, POJA collection
