• Top left vestibular groove with gland formation.
• Stratified ectoderm with dark red  rim of basal cells from which a dental lamina sprouts downwards  into the dental crypt (bony cavity) (bottom right corner). Bone stains dark blue; connective tissue/mesenchym stains light blue.
• Fibrous tooth follicle surrounding the developing odontogenic organ (enamel organ) including stellate reticulum and dense aggregate of mesenchymal cells.

Description:
Stain Azan, human embryo. From top to bottom:
-  Stratified ectoderm with a distinct basal layer of cuboid cells.
-  Dental lamina giving rise to the cap stage (centre) and to the                 primordium  of permanent tooth (obliquely upward)                              
-  Odontogenic organ or enamel organ (future deciduous tooth             surrounded by fibrous tooth follicle.                          
-  Outer dental epithelium encloses the stellate reticulum                           consisting of a network of ectoderm-derived cells.
-  Inner dental epithelium is seen as a dark red zone of future                    ameloblasts covered by a few cell layers of the stratum                            intermedium.
-  Future odontoblasts are localized just below the translucent zone    close to the ameloblasts.
-  Dental papilla extends outside the cervical loop; it consists of a           compact network of fibroblast-like cells (so-called pulpal cells).
-  Blood vessels of the papilla and tooth follicle are present.
-  At the bottom alveolar bone formation (dark blue).

-  Dental lamina giving rise to the bell stage (left) and to the                       primordium of permanent tooth (right).                      
-  Odontogenic organ  (future deciduous tooth) surrounded by                fibrous tooth follicle.                            
-  Outer dental epithelium encloses the stellate reticulum                            consisting of a network of ectoderm-derived cells.
-  In the cuspal tip inner dental epithelium is seen as a dark red zone    of future ameloblasts; predentin is deposited as a blue rim                    apposed to the odontoblastic cells.
-  Compact network of fibroblast-like cells (so-called pulpal cells)
    of the dental papilla (future pulp) which extends outside the                  cervical loop.
-  Blood vessels of the papilla and tooth follicle are shown.
