Title: Intramural leiomyoma (uterus, human)

(A): Low magnification of part of the uterus. (1) endometrium; (2) leiomyoma; (3) outer layer myometrium with arcuate arteries (stratum vasculare).
(B): The tumor consists of bundles of uniformly smooth muscle cells with a intertwining course. Between the smooth muscle cells some blood vessels while no malignant features as cellular atypia, atypical nuclei and atypic mitoses are present.
(C): Whorly pattern of the smooth muscle cells (yellow) and a variable amount of irregular distributed fibrous connective stroma which is reddish-stained. (Partly by courtesy of G. P.
