7.2 POJA-L1665+1666+1852
Title: Fallopian tube, ampulla (human, adult)
Description: Stain: CK 7 (OVTL12-30) antikeratin antibody immunoperoxidase staining with diaminobenzidin reaction (DAB) and hematoxylin counterstaining.
(A-C): Keratin 7-positive reaction in lining of long tortuous plicae (1) and in several vestigial structures (2) in the ampulla. The proper lamina (3) and surrounding smooth muscles (4) around the vestigial tubules are negative. Several keratin-negative cells in the lining of vestigial tubules are most likely intraepithelial lymphocytes or macrophages.
Background: Between ovary and fallopian tube remnants of mesonephric tubules (epoöphoron) are often found localized in the lateral part of the mesosalpinx. They are blind-ending transverse tubules that converge towards the ovary. At the opposite site the tubules open into a rudimentary longitudinal mesonephric duct.
Keywords/Mesh: female reproductive organs, oviduct, salpinx, fallopian tubes, cytokeratin 7, histology, POJA collection.
