4.1.1 POJA-L3994+2917
Title: Chief cell and parietal cells in gastric glands (human)
Description: (A) Electron micrograph and (B) scheme of a chief cell.
(A): Two parietal cells (2) and a chief cell (1).
(B): As depicted in scheme (B) the chief cells possess a vast rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER) needed for the production of pepsinogen that is packed in electron gray granules (stained yellow in the scheme). The two parietal cells are equipped with intracellular canaliculi, transport tubules and vesicles (arrow, ↘), and mitochondria. The parietal cells produce HCL and intrinsic factor.
Keywords/Mesh: gastric glands, chief cells, parietal cells, electron microscopy, histology, POJA collection
