8.7 POJA-L446 Title: Keratin 7 in the normal bronchial epithelium of the lung Description: Anti-keratin 7 antibody (Ck 7) immunoperoxidase staining (with aminoethylcarbazole (AEC) substrate, adult human. The epithelium of the bronchus (1) stains dark brown-red after the reaction with AEC indicating a positive reaction for cytokeratin 7. This antibody can be used in the study of developmental processes of epithelia, premalignant processes in the lungs. 8.7 POJA-L448 Title: Keratin 7 staining in squamous metaplasia of the epithelium of a bronchiole Description: Ditto stain, adult human. Note that the top layer only is stained positively for keratin 7 (↓). Upon squamous metaplasia the bronchiolar epithelial cells reduce keratin 7 expression and hence this cytokeratin appears a suitable marker in the study of early metaplastic processes in epithelia e.g. the bronchial tree. 8.7 POJA-L449 Title: Keratin 7 staining in squamous metaplasia and dysplasia of the epithelium of a bronchus Description: Ditto stain, adult human. Note that only few cells in the top layer reacts weakly positive for keratin 7 (↓). Upon squamous metaplasia the bronchial epithelial cells largely loose keratin 7 expression. Additionally disturbances in the growth and maturing might result in dysplasia of the epithelium with a changed reaction pattern for cytokeratins. Here it is demonstrated that the basal compartments at the bottom that exhibit very mild dysplasia appear totally negative for keratin 7. This antibody can be useful in the study of premalignant changes in e.g. pseudostratified, squamous stratified epithelia (complex epithelia). 8.7 POJA-L450 Title: Keratin 7 staining in dysplastic epithelium of a bronchus Description: Ditto stain, adult human. Disturbances in the growth and maturing might result in dysplasia of the epithelium with a changed reaction pattern for among others cytokeratins. In this mild dysplastic bronchial epithelium the reactivity for keratin 7 appears lost completely. This antibody is considered as useful in the study of premalignant changes in complex epithelia within the lungs, cervix etc. KeywordsMesh: respiratory tract, lung, bronchus, bronchiole, cytokeratin 7, epithelium, squamous metaplasia, dysplasia, histology, pathology, POJA collection |
