Title: Kupffer cells in the liver (human, mouse)
Description: (A, B) Stain: Hematoxylin-Scarlet red. Postoperative fat embolus in liver (human). Kupffer cells are stained orange (arrow) due to the bulky ingestion of fat droplets. Note that the cells are no longer flat and slender but have a stellate form within the sinusoid.
(C) Stain: Trypan blue and Fast red (rat). Arrow indicates Kupffer cells.
(D) Stain: eosin, malarial pigment ingested by Kupffer cells (arrow) (mouse, infected by Plasmodium berghei).
