(B): Ultrastructure of elastin in auricular cartilage (gerbil). Note that the ultrastructural appearance of the elastin (2) is amorphous and rather diffuse compared to collagen fibrils, that are present together with dense proteoglycan particles between the elastin masses. (1): Cytoplasm extension of a chondrocyte.
