Title: Seborrheic keratosis (verruca seborrhoica) II
Description:
(A): Exophytic neoplasma with pseudo-horn cysts due to down growth of keratin (1) and dermal lymphocytic infiltration (2),
stain hematoylin-eosin, human.
(B): The neoplasma is composed of sheets of small cells. Melanine pigmentation accounts for the brown colorization (3).
(C): Hyperkeratosis and tumor cells (4) resembling immature basal cells of the normal epidermis.
(D): Transition of the elevated exophytic epithelium towards the adjacent epidermis.
Background: Spontaneous arising warty growth – most often in middle-aged or elderly – and frequently localized on trunk, face, back
and chest. The tumor manifests itself as flat coin-like plaques uniformly tan or as granular surface lesions up to few centimeters.
Keywords/Mesh: skin, seborrheic keratosis, verruca seborrhoica, basal cell papilloma, histology, pathology, POJA collection
