Title: Exocytosis of adrenalin granules (III) in medullary cells in rat adrenal gland
Description:
Medulla, electron micrographs of adrenalin-storing cells.
(A): Shows survey of adrenalin-producing cells in the medulla. Note the numerous small electron-grey and electron-dense granules.
(B): The electron-density of the granules varies considerable but all have a dark center surrounded by a lighter peripheral zone or halo characteristic for the adrenalin cell type. The cell is located adjacent to the white capillary space. Fenestrations (black arrows).
The red rectangle shows two secretory granules close to the cell membrane and almost linked to the dark actin aggregates (red arrows) which are involved in the exocytosis of these two granules.
(C): The content of the granules are excreted via exocytosis in an intercellular space (*) between two neighboring cells.
Keywords/Mesh: adrenal gland, medulla, adrenalin, exocytosis, histology, electron microscopy, POJA collection
