Title: Villus of the duodenum (gerbil)
Description: Electron micrograph. The connective tissue column (lamina propria) in the center of the villus is marked with a blue bar.
That column comprises many capillaries and lymph vessels with several lymphoid cell types. On both sites of the papilla the villus is lined with (1) resorptive epithelial cells with apically located small dark vesicles, and with (2) goblet cells with large electron light secretory mucous granules.
