14.1 POJA-L6054 Electron micrograph of a satellite cell of a muscle fibre (gerbil)
Title: Electron micrograph of a satellite cell of a muscle fibre (gerbil) Description: (1): Satellite cell as precursor cell to replenish muscle fibres. The satellite cell lies closely against the sarcolemma of the myofibre, they are enclosed by a common basal lamina (blue arrows). (*): Thin curly rounded cellular protein remnants between the two cell membranes. (Not to be mistaken for basal lamina). (Green arrows): Triad with T-tubules i.e., invaginations of sarcolemma deep into the muscle cell. (Red arrows): Cross sectioned sarcoplasmic reticulum cisterns (L-system). (2): Collagen fibres in the endomysial connective tissue.
