Title: Sebaceous glands in the dermis
Description:
(A): Axil, stain Azan, human.
(B): Electron microscopy schemes: Initial phase - (C): Mature phase, human.
(D): Back skin, electron microscopy, rabbit.
The sebaceous glands are usually associated with hair follicles. They have an alveolar size.
The gland cells within the alveolus die (apoptosis, pyknotic nuclei) upon maturation and the whole content is excreted as a lubricant.
The outer basal cells (1) provide by mitosis the new cells (a germinal layer-like), and products and are detailed in (B).
The mature cells are represented by (2). The pyknotic, overmature cells are indicated by (3).
Keywords/Mesh: skin, sebaceous gland, holocrine gland, sebum, histology, electron microscopy, POJA collection
