At the top pseudostratified, ciliated epithelium (1) with a distinct endoepithelial gland (2, pink-stained mucous cells). The proper lamina is cell-rich and draining ducts (3, enclosed by thicker blue-stained borders) and acini of the nasal glands (5) are present here as well as in the submucosa (4, heavier deposits of thicker blue-stained collagen fibers).
