(A): Gpox (glycerophosphate oxidase), pig. (B): SDH (succinate dehydrogenase), pig. (C1, C2): NADH reductase (black white), rat.
In contrast to SDH in (B) where all epithelial cells show positive reaction, the Gpox in (A) demonstrates apart from general follicular epithelial activity also exclusively a stronger reaction product in the whole cytoplasm of parafollicular cells (C-cells, arrows).
Generally the NADH activities in (C) follow the Gpox but to a lesser degree. This indicates that at least in the pig Gpox can be used as
a reliable marker for parafollicular cells.
