Title: Seminoma
Description:
(A, B) Stain hematoxylin-eosin, human.
(A) Survey and (B) detail of a seminoma. In the classification of testicular tumors a seminoma belongs to the group
of the germ cell tumors i.e. due to a neoplastic transformation of a germ cell in the testis.
The tumor presents itself in sheets of uniform large, round to polygonal cells with rather clear cytoplasm.
The nuclei show coarse granular chromatin with 1-2 prominent nucleoli (B).
Thin fibrovascular septa within the tumor demarcate the tissue in poorly defined lobules, and lymphocytic infiltration
is common (encircled yellow). Dysfunctional seminiferous tubules are present, too, without any sign of spermatogenesis.
Keywords/Mesh: testis, seminoma, neoplasm, pathology, histology, POJA collection
