(A - C): Ocular tumor, stain hematoxylin-eosin, human. The tumor cells show hyperchromatic nuclei and scanty cytoplasm.
They are characteristically arranged in rosettes (Flexner- Wintersteiner rosettes) (C).
Note also the very darkly stained numerous infiltrating leucocytes in (C).
The retinoblastoma is a primary ocular tumor in childhood, it arises from undifferentiated neuroectodermal cells or
retinal neuroepithelium. The tumor can grow into the vitreal cavity and/or in the subretinal space.
