(A): Lumen (1); major plica (2); (3) minor plicae; (4) proper lamina with many blood vessels and lymphatics (**). At (5) internal circular c.q. spiral smooth muscle layers partly intertwined with internal longitudinal muscle bundles (6).
(B): High magnification of ciliated (7) and non-ciliated secretory cells (8). The columnar lining decreases to a more or less cuboidal lining in the luteal phase of the cycle. (1) lumen.
