4.1.1 POJA-L3986
Title: Enteroendocrine cell in stomach (rat)
Description: Electron micrograph.
The enteroendocrine cell (1) contains small electron dense granules usually located below the nucleus and adjacent to a basal lamina and a capillary (5). They produce hormones like gastrin and glucagon and others. Chief cells (2, 4) with electron gray large granules (pepsinogen) and an extensive rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER). The intracellular canaliculi of a parietal cell (HCl and intrinsic factor) are identified by (3).
Keywords/mesh: stomach, entero-endocrine cell, chief cell, parietal cell, electron microscopy
