(B): Stain cresyl violet, rat. Multipolar ganglion cells in the medulla amid of light-stained epitheloid chromaffin cells.
(C): Acetylcholine-esterase staining of the ganglion cells in the medulla, rat.
(D): Electron micrograph of ganglion cells with amphicytes in medulla of the adrenal gland, rat. Equivalent to (A).
(E): Electron micrograph of a sympathetic post-ganglionic synaps on a noradrenalin cell in the medulla, rat.
Note the synaptic cleft-like folded contact place (arrow) with a thickened postsynaptic membrane.
