Title: Associative cortex of cerebrum
Description:
(A): Stain hematoxylin-eosin, human. Survey associative cortex layers of the cerebrum.
Arrows indicate larger pyramidal cells (internal pyramidal layer V).
(B): Stain cresyl violet staining highlighting several small and larger pyramidal cells with their dendrites up to the molecular layer I, human.
(C): Stain Kluver-Barrera staining, human. Pyramidal cells and blue-stained nerve fibers.
(D): Golgi stain highlighting large pyramidal cells with an ascending thick, long apical branched dendrite and basally thin axon and collaterals, human. Pyramidal cells are found in the external pyramidal layer III and the internal pyramidal layer V. The giant pyramidal cells of Betz are usually found in the layer V of motor cortex e.g. precentral region (agranular cortex, Brodmann area 4).
Keywords/Mesh: nervous tissue, cerebrum, associative motor cortex, pyramid cell, cell of Betz, axon, dendrite, histology, POJA collection
