Title: Histochemical staining pattern in liver (mouse)
Description: Stain: (A) GPox staining (l-glycerol-3-phosphate: acceptor oxidoreductase (Gpox, Glutathione peroxidase (GPOX) activity was determined with cumene hydroperoxide and fatty acid hydro peroxides. High activity is found around the periportal areas, comparable to SDH in (B).
(B) SDH (succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) is a mitochondrion marker and shows that most activity is found around the periportal area due to highest oxygen level in the blood in that area.
(C) The Best-Carmen stain indicates the localization of glycogen equally distributed through all liver cells around the periportal area.
(D) The MGP stain for RNA confirms the ample amount of ribosomal RNA in the polyribosomes attached to the rough endoplasmic reticulum, equally in all liver parenchym cells.
