Title: Skeletal muscle fibres within connective tissue (human)
Description:
Three striated muscle fibres (or myofibres) are found fanning out within a network of loose connective tissue, modified Trichrome stain. In specialised regions such as the oral cavity small bundles of myofibres are found localised in the accompanying connective tissue of mucous/serous glands, blood vessels and nerve bundles.
(1): Accumulation of parallel located spindle-shaped nuclei of fibroblasts. Thin collagen fibres are stained green.
(2): In this survey the myofibres are easily distinguished by their size and fine striation. In the red rectangle their nuclei are cut tangentially.
